Pustaka Miri is having an Art Exhibition from 6 December - 31 Decemeber 2010.
There will be 30 art works from 3 artists. Contemporary batik artist Mary Anne Vaz will dsiplay her works on Sarawakian Culture , Folklore and Nature. Afi Saiful will take us on a satirical journey with his War Series and thought provoking satirical works. Mohammad Putit will give us a glimpse of many places in his landscapes .
I did not know his name. But the way he was looking at Judgement Day struck me. You see. It seemed like he could step into the three piece artwork. It was then that I realized the piece seems to move....come and experience it yourself at our exhibition "Seeing The World Through Art" at Pustaka Miri, the Miri Library , Sarawak, Malaysia. 6 to 31 December featuring diverse artworks from three artists : Afi Saiful a satirical artist, Mary Anne Vaz a contemporary batik artist and Md Putit a watercolour painter

This was the piece that appealed to me in terms of colour and strokes.
Apparently a man who was ponderinng on this piece saw a ballerina.

The title he gave for this piece is judgement day. He has used a variety of techniques including spray paint. The waterfall is painted in newspaper cuttings of the stock market. FALLING of course.

Afi has won several awards as the Best Artist
in The British School Of Alexandria, Egypt.
We wana meet you and have a sketch - along all the way in Borneo.
The city is Miri and we don't care where you are from.
If you love art, you are with us.
It all started with this, he told me, as he showed me the piece in his handphone.
My mouth dropped. His eyes qlistened at the impact .
"I am shocked".
I was at a loss of words.
How could I describe how I felt.
I knew I was chatting with a GREAT ARTIST.
And he was a humble teenager.
I guess this seems to be one of the traits of greatness.
He did not really think much of himself.
Yet others could see it.
When he did this piece his art teacher in THE BRITISH SCHOOL OF ALEXANDRIA, EGYPT told him: " You are a good artist Afi. You just don't know it yet..."
