VIBRANT ARTIST

This painting by David Chew makes me ponder about who we are .

He uses western abstract style to capture the motif that represents Borneo.

I like the colours and the texture. The painting has impact.

It makes me feel that he does do justice to the beauty and power here in Sarawak.

What I like about David Chew's painting is that it is striking. The colours jump out at you and yet they are soothing.

They are almost delicious.

For want of a better word....

TEA WITH RAPHAEL SCOTT ABENG

After a journey through urban and suburban and off the track roads

we arrived .

Raphael Scott Abengs cottage complex

with all his special art corners and rustic cosy places

and his joyful paintings.

In his huge studio we wandered as he told us about his encounters with collectors

It was such a precious evening of art comraderie.

AN ARTIST THAT MADE ME PONDER

I am at a loss of words to describe how I felt or the thoughts that are stirred in me.

My soul is full of thanks for this ooportunity to meet David Chiew and walk through his virtual gallery....

I am posting a painting entitled TOWARDS GATHERING.

David shared with me the stories behind his paintings.

What impressed me was the vibrance and the authentic struggle to express his views of life.

For me he was an artist who was capturing the inner dynamics of minds and hearts .

No simple answers.

Universal growth...

What it means to be human.

What it feels to ponder on the divine.

I am posting Morning In Borneo as it emerges.

Today I was happy with the way the cool and peaceful morning is emerging

This my painting of AGAN TADUN ,

A Kelabit Legend.

He was a paramount chief who was super successful

Many say this painting is ambiguous.

It could be a lady or a man.

How right!!!

This goes to show that men and women can be leaders.

So it looks like this is a real MODERN LEGEND

The medium is batik.

It is a process that involves waxing and using dye paints.

I have been a batik artist for many years

But recently I have ventured to acrylic

My clients seem to like my paintings in batik, acrylic and crayon.

What is important are the feelings and the vision they convey.

What does this paintings say to you?

MISTY WATER

This is the painting that marks a transformation in my life.

It shows a Misty Waterfall with light coming from above.

Many say they feel serene looking at this painting.

I feel a sense of recognition.

I mean I can see the point at which I changed.

The swirls on the left are fresh and lovely

That was me before I gave my life to Jesus.

Then these is the centre of MISTY WATER

And the misty feeling on the right

That is me when I felt washed and light

After I gave myself of Jesus.

THE JOURNEY

The journey begins today.

Yet it really began many many years ago.

I had a dream

To enjoy myself in painting

And that's what I am doing right now.

There are so many pictures in me

And there are not enough canvases it seems

I will share my paintings with you

As they unfold
